LOST is a Game.com - Duplicates

While most fans seem to concentrate on there being so many Tom's on LOST, there are many duplicate names for characters. The same names occur as a result of the 'game players' choosing these names from a pre-set list in the game prompts.

For example: Edward Mars the marshall; Eddie the security guard; Eddie Colburn the undercover cop; and Juliet's ex-husband Edmund Burke.

S3E22 Jaime Ortiz, Jaime is a variant of James. There is a translation of the obituary of the man in the coffin that is posted all over the internet. It claims that the obituary says "The body of Jeremy Betham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft. Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. according to Jamie Ortiz, a police spokesperson, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Betham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."

The same professions occur as a result of the 'game players' choosing options from pre-set lists in the game prompts. And a few of the professions are unusual ones.

For example: there are at least four people who have been identified as being involved in the lumber industry: In S1E8 David, Jessica's husband owns a lumber yard; in S1E21 Essam said "I'm a tree cutter. I cut trees."; in S1E23 Sawyer is arrested for head-butting the Hon. Warren Truss, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, & Forestry; and in S3E3 Eddie Colburn says "I've heard there's some work there cutting timber"

The mode of death appears to be another area where the game is presenting a list of pre-set options to the 'game player'. While Christian Shephard died from a heart attack and so did Mr. Bissoni, and there are many characters who have died in crashes or as the result of their injuries.

But, there are an amazing number of characters who have died from a broken neck. Not a very common cause of death in real life. For example: Scott Jackson in S1E15, Nathan in S2E7 and the real Henry Gale S2E18

The most discussed of these is probably the large number of car accidents that have occurred with what seems to be the same car. How can the same car be in NYC (Michael S1E14), Iowa (Kate & Tom S1E22) and California (Locke S1E19)? It can be, if the game is responsible for the make and model of the car.

And of course there are the polar bears.
